Life has felt very heavy lately. So much so that I haven’t written or shared anything (other than recipes) for quite some time. When I don’t find time to write, I know something isn’t … right.
It seems like almost everyone I know (myself included) is carrying a load that’s just a bit too much to handle. And the struggle can really weigh you down.
Today, I lightened things up a bit. Yes, my hair. But also, my attitude.
I left the stress on the floor, right alongside the dead trimmings of my hair.
I took a walk around the block, enjoying the sunshine on my face.
I supported a few small businesses, which always makes me happy.
I remembered that I am not defined, or confined, by the challenges and fire that surround me.
I pulled on this shirt, custom made for me by my son with his favorite line from my book: “I am not being burned by the fire. I am the fire.”
It’s my reminder that there will always be chaos and fire. It’s how we view it, and use it, that makes all the difference.
